GFWC International Day of Service (GFWC IDS)
GFWC IDS is a day when all of GFWC comes together to highlight an area of need, take action, and raise public awareness of its importance. This year’s GFWC IDS issue of focus is to help end domestic and sexual violence across the United States and internationally. On September 26th, Women’s Clubs worldwide will volunteer at local food banks and organize food drives to raise awareness and advocate for ending food insecurity.
For the 2025 International Day of Service, the GFWC Azalea City Woman’s Club came together to raise awareness and support local organizations providing essential services to individuals and families affected by domestic and sexual violence.
The club and members posted on Facebook requesting in-kind donations from the community — including toiletries, baby supplies, stuffed animals, and children’s books — to encourage broad participation and compassion-driven giving. One of our local grocery stores allowed us to hand out informational flyers at their store entrance, helping to raise awareness and encourage community donations.
The collected items, valued at $502, were divided equally between two local organizations — The Haven, a women’s shelter, and the Children’s Advocacy Center of Lowndes County. Through this initiative, ACWC demonstrated its ongoing commitment to service and advocacy for those impacted by domestic and sexual violence.
